The Dittmer brothers and their dogs take a break in front of a rough shelter. There were four brothers, Herman, John, Henry and William, it is unclear which are pictured here. The brothers farmed, with their father Henry, on Scott's Road, Kahuterawa, c 1904-1920, also known as Hill Top Road and Motu Rimu. When the land was bought in 1904 it had to be cleared and a sawmill was established to process the timber. They farmed cattle and sheep
