Float, as part of Palmerston North 75th Jubilee celebrations

Description

There was a week of events to celebrate Palmerston North being granted Borough status in 1877. Celebrations began on Saturday and included a display of floats. This CM Ross Co Ltd Float earned second place in the competition and was described thus: “A strikingly beautiful effect was achieved with a central feminine figure in an alluring crinoline of pale pink and mauve. Crepe paper was delicately interwoven to form the ruffles and frills of the dress”.
