Robert Keeling (c1838-1910) was part-time Town Clerk from 1877-1879 (the Borough’s first) and full time Town Clerk from 1879-1907. He was born in Liverpool and came to New Zealand in 1859. He worked as teacher in the first public school in Palmerston North in 1873, and 3 years later started business as a land agent.
