The Miranui Flaxmill was the largest flaxmill built in New Zealand, in 1907. Flax fibre is bleaching in the paddocks, while bales of hemp are being transported by horse and cart to Shannon where it would be transported by rail to Wellington. the contractor driving the cart was Vic Tippler.
