This photograph shows a heavy swamp plough at work on Mr Joseph Beale’s property, near Palmerston North. The locality is either Fitzherbert on the east bank of the Manawatu River or Longburn on the west bank. The gentleman on the right is Bruce Beale, son of Joseph Beale.Mr Joseph Beale was a well-known farmer in the Palmerston North district during the 1880s and 1890s,including being connected to the Longburn Freezing Works.Mr Joseph Beale was a well-known farmer in the Palmerston North district during the 1880s and 1890s,including being connected to the Longburn Freezing Works.
