Nautical Scene: Ward 1

Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 22nd December 1965 "Ward one at the Palmerston North Hospital has been transformed into a really nautical scene with a wheel, sailors and portholes. Over the doorway is "H.M.S. Orthopod" and not forgetting sister E. Ewart's office labelled "Captain". "It was a joint effort", said the sister, "and even some of the patients (some since gone home) were a great help."
