An aerial view of Awapuni area, showing the Esplanade at bottom left, the Palmerston North Golf Club and the distinctive layout of Savage Crescent, the state housing complex developed 1936-1944. In 1964 the Golf Club, formed in 1930, was acquired by the PNCC for residential housing, Awatapu College and the Lido complex, and the Club relocated to Brightwater Terrace.
