This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 15 May, 1963. "Entrants from many parts of new Zealand are competing in the Manawatu Competitions Society's annual festival. These dancers-H. Nicoll (Palmerston North), N. Nicolson (Taihape) and L. Knowles (Lower Hutt)-go through their paces before going on stage, in the 10 to 12 years' ballet competition."
