Some of the sheep that William Chapman kept on the remaining 21 acres of his farm in the north-western corner of Palmerston North after selling a larger portion (50 acres) in about 1920. In a letter of 1923 (by then aged 62 and not in good health) he writes that “five or six cows now & a few sheep seems to keep me going all the time”.
