Palmerston North Intermediate Normal was opened 5 Feb 1941. It was one of the earlier intermediate schools established in New Zealand, whereby it took the pupils of the last two years of primary school, to better prepare them for secondary school. School team of school pupils. 'Outdoor' basketball is now called netball.
