A portable steam driven winch known as a log-hauler, hauled logs from the bush to the tramline, from where horses then hauled the logs along the tramline to the sawmill. From the left: men tentatively identified as Jack O’Hagan, who worked at Umutoi Sawmill and Albert Dick.
