This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 18 February 1961 "Over the past 55 years of trading, Garners have made every effort to bring to the people of Palmerston North a top rate service backed with prices unequalled. -- Now the extension has gone still further with the introduction of three new ventures: the introduction of a knitting wool department, a fully-stocked haberdashery and the convenient method of shopping which is friendly credit. In Garner's specially appointed wool department, along with knitting books and needles, can be seen a magnificent array of popular brands of knitting wool - Fontana, Kaiapoi, Petone, Aotea and Roslyn. All qualities from baby wool to heavy double knitting. The haberdashery department, conveniently arranged into the same location as the wool, is fully equipped to assist the home dressmaker in every way possible."
