'Totaranui', hitching rail and water trough at Manawatu Museum, Church Street
More Info →- Description
-
'Totaranui', said to be one of the oldest residential properties in Palmerston North, was shifted to The Square during the centennial celebrations of 1970 - 1971. It was later moved to the Manawatu Museum site in Church Street. The trough and hitching rail originally stood in Pioneer Highway. Behind the trough can be seen part of a replica of the first grocery store in Palmerston North, built by George Snelson in 1871.
