This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 16 February 1961: "The shearing instructor, Mr. N. Churchhouse, guides two of the six young shearers of Flock House who were selected to shear the flock rams on the farm this morning. "They're a bit big and hard to handle for the boys," was the opinion of their instructor, but he was pleased with the standard of their shearing. The trainees attend Flock House in groups of 25 and two courses are run each year. The classes are primarily to train town youths for farm work in all sections, including dairy, sheep, farm carpentry and butchery."
