Snow fell at Whakarongo 23 July 1975. The School celebrated with a snowman-building competition. One of the snowmen, with pupils, said to include: Jan Oden; Jillian and Michelle Lyn Cleghorn; Bruce and Russell Burr; Kevin Huntley; Margaret Spall; Laurie Brocklebank; Michael Summers; Suzanne Fryer; Laurence Joe. Idenitified are: Murray Blackley (leaning over towards the head of the snowman on right, blonde hair). From left standing on ground: Debbie Hughes; Jenny Young; Murray Olsen (with glasses).
