Returned servicemen welcomed back. Recollections of the WWII as young child. Town and Salvation Army bands combined in the war. Parents worked in the Salvation Army, similar to being a minister, but also social work (issues balancing the two). Going to picnics on the back of a truck. Parents growing vegetables, school children’s growing competitions. Preserving produce. Now 83 and still in contact with school friends.
