This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 31 August 1960 "The road around the Centennial Lagoon is receiving a face lift by Palmerston North City Council workmen. Starting toady, it is anticipated that the road will be closed for some time while improvement work is carried out. A large carry-all is seen removing some of the spoil there is this morning."
