First All Saints Church, Church Street
More Info →- Description
-
This was the first Anglican Church in Palmerston North, built in 1875, on the site of the present All Saints Church. Previously worshippers held fortnightly meetings in the courthouse. The foundation stone of the church was laid by Mrs G M Snelson 29 September 1875 and the first vicar was the Reverend Henry Bevis. This building was incorporated into a larger church in 1882, with which was in turn replaced by the current All Saints Church in 1915. Note the extent of the bush line surrounding the early town in the background.
