This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 18 October 1960 "Infant mistresses throughout the city area today were given the opportunity of a conducted tour of all the kindergartens operating within the area. This was the outcome of a combined meeting of infant mistresses and the pre-school groups, kindergartens and nursery play centres held last September with the aim of bringing about a closer liaison, greater understanding and continuity of work, thus promoting a smooth transition. Much interest was displayed in the play equipment and on the masses of unorganized occupations. Though a little organization was necessary in the singing and percussion bands, children came as the mood took them. Above is a group visiting Roslyn Kindergarten. They are (from the left): Mrs. A.M. Gordon (Awapuni), Miss M. Esau (director), Miss J. Burke (assistant-director), Mrs. P. Keys (Kindergarten Council), Miss M. Archibald (College Street), and Mrs. L. Reid (Hokowhitu) watching a small group busily engaged in their activities outside the front of their modern building."
