This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 09 March 1961 "Several members of the Palmerston North City Silver Band are shown on stage at the Concert Chamber tuning their instruments before the presenting of several items at a farewell concert prior to leaving tomorrow for the national brass bands' contest at Auckland. The members are (from the left): Messrs E. Prout (B flat bass), R. McGavin (tenor horn), C. O'Hara (sitting, trombone) and V. Belgrave (conductor)."
