The second Fitzherbert Bridge was built 1933 - 1935. Here, the official party walk along Fitzherbert Avenue leading up to the bridge, lead by His Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Galway, and the Mayor of Palmerston North, Augustus (Gus) Mansford.
