Francis Edward Watson (1856-1930)

Description

Francis emigrated to New Zealand in 1876 and served as a teacher in Wanganui form 1876-1879. This photograph shows him at the age of 20 or 21, wearing the butterfly neck-wear of the mid 1870s. After 1879 until his retirement, Francis was Palmerston North's leading primary educator, the Headmaster of the Central and Campbell Street Schools.
