Development began on the Victoria Esplanade in Palmerston North, named to mark Queen Victoria's 60th jubilee, in 1897. The tea kiosk was built in 1909, with the lattice work added later, before 1917. It was demolished in 1943,

This view through the trees of the Esplanade shows the Tea Kiosk, which was built in 1909. This photograph shows the lattice work addition which was built on either side after its initial construction. The kiosk was demolished in 1943.

A family waits for a train in the Main Street Station in 1964. although the new station opened on Tremaine Avenue in 1963 the yards were still used, and the last train went through this station in June 1964.
