This letter/card was written to Mr Tom A. Grammer and family by his son Stewar, while serving as a Gunner in the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces, in World War Two.
The Grammer family were early Ashhurst residents and the Grammer Family archive contains family information from 1868. Stewart Grammer was the son of Tom Grammer and the family lived in Bainesse, close to Palmerston North.
