An article written by Ian Argyle about the Hungarian, Alexander Menesdorffer, who prospected for platinum in the Kahutarawa Valley, near Palmerston North from the late 1800s.
Some of the the mines he and others dug, both horizontal and vertical, can be found on PNCC land, at Hardings Park off the Sledge Track.
